The Minister of Culture and Arts, Malika Bendouda, presided yesterday, Monday, in Algiers, over the signing of three agreements between the National Office for Copyright and Related Rights (ONDA) and public and private institutions within the framework of intellectual property protection.
The signing ceremony took place at the Moufdi-Zakaria Palace of Culture on the occasion of World Intellectual Property Day, celebrated annually on April 26.
On this occasion, Ms. Bendouda reaffirmed her department's constant commitment to continuing awareness efforts regarding the importance of intellectual property as a "fundamental lever of any balanced creative system."
She added that the protection of creation "is more than a legal obligation; it is a civilizational choice," reminding the audience that preserving the rights of creators "remains a collective responsibility requiring the mobilization of institutions, the media, and civil society."
For his part, the Director General of ONDA, Samir Thaalbi, highlighted the importance of protecting human creativity as a "lever for sustainable development," noting that digital innovation "plays a key role in the development of societies."
The three bilateral agreements were signed between ONDA and the National Archives institution, represented by its Director General, Mr. Mohamed Bounâama; the National Higher School of Journalism and Information Sciences, represented by Mr. Khaled Lalaoui; and a representative of the "Dropzik" digital music distribution platform.
In the same celebratory spirit, Ms. Bendouda launched the "Copyright Friendly" Label, a qualitative institutional distinction that annually rewards companies that respect "creative authenticity" and copyright and related rights.
