The 28th edition of the International Exhibition for Construction, Building Materials, and Public Works (BATIMATEC 2026) opened Sunday at the Palace of Exhibitions in Algiers, featuring extensive national and international participation.
The official opening ceremony was presided over by the Minister of Housing, Urban Planning, and the City, Mr. Mohamed Tarek Belaribi. He was accompanied by several government members, the President of the National Economic, Social, and Environmental Council (CNESE), and the President of the Algerian Investment Promotion Agency (AAPI), in the presence of the Wali of the Wilaya of Algiers and members of the diplomatic corps accredited to Algeria.
A Strategic Economic Hub
Taking place from May 3 to 7, the event is organized by "Algeria Exhibitions" (a subsidiary of the SAFEX Group) in collaboration with "Batimatec Expo," under the patronage of the Ministry of Housing, Urban Planning, and the City.
As a major event for the public works sector, the exhibition covers various branches of construction and building materials. This edition is marked by a significant number of exhibitors, including national public and private enterprises, alongside foreign companies from approximately 15 countries, such as China, Turkey, Italy, Spain, and Portugal. Additionally, 40 startups active in construction and public works are participating.
Innovation and Sustainability
The fair includes a comprehensive program of lectures for professionals and academics, led by experts and senior officials from the Ministry of Housing. Discussions will focus on innovation and startups in the building materials sector, as well as new environmental challenges, such as carbon emissions in the construction industry, financing innovative projects, and integrating sustainable construction methods.
The event will also host the third edition of the "INNOV BAT" construction innovation competition. This initiative aims to stimulate innovation in construction techniques, encourage localized solutions tailored to Algeria’s geography, and support national talent and expertise.
