The Secretary-General of the Ministry of National Defense, Major General Mohamed Salah Benbicha, presided today, Tuesday, at the National Army Club in Beni Messous (1st Military Region), over the opening of an international forum entitled “Water and Environmental Sustainability in the Face of Climate Change,” according to a statement from the Ministry of National Defense.
The opening ceremony was attended by “the Counselor to the President of the Republic in charge of Security and Defense Affairs, the Director General of the National Institute for Global Strategic Studies (INESG), heads of departments and central directors from the Ministry of National Defense and the Staff of the People's National Army, as well as senior state officials, professors, and national and international experts.”
The forum proceedings commenced with an opening speech delivered by the Secretary-General of the Ministry of National Defense, in which he welcomed the guests and participants and addressed the desired objectives of organizing this significant scientific activity.
In this context, Major General Benbicha stated: “I am confident that this international scientific forum will culminate in the issuance of recommendations and proposals that will enhance cooperation and coordination among all sectors, with the involvement of civil society and the citizen, within a forward-looking vision and an integrated, effective governance of water resources. These efforts will allow for addressing current and future challenges while strengthening our country's water security and national sovereignty.”
During this international forum, lectures were presented by researchers and specialized experts, addressing various aspects of the theme. They “analyzed the multi-dimensional impacts of climate change on water resources and sustainable water management. Additionally, an exhibition of innovative projects in the field of water resource management and conservation, developed by officers and personnel from various structures of the People's National Army, was organized on this occasion.”
