The Minister of Knowledge Economy, Startups, and Micro-enterprises, Noureddine Ouadah, participated in the ongoing "KazanForum 2026" in Russia. He specifically highlighted Algeria's human potential, infrastructure, and an investment environment increasingly open to the digital economy, while praising the long-standing scientific and technological ties between Algeria and Russia, according to a ministry statement on Friday.
During a high-level dialogue session on cooperation in the digital economy and ICTs between Russia and the Islamic world, the Minister reviewed Algeria’s assets, including young talents and continuously evolving infrastructure. He emphasized the country's openness to the digital economy, with a focus on big data centers to keep pace with the massive development in Artificial Intelligence (AI) applications. Mr. Ouadah underscored the importance of building strategic partnerships based on innovation and technology transfer.
The KazanForum (May 13–15) is one of the leading international platforms dedicated to strengthening cooperation between Russia and the Islamic world, particularly in technology and innovation. The event features a significant official presence with delegations and economic and academic institutions from over 90 countries, the source indicated.
In a session focused on scientific and technological cooperation with Russia, Mr. Ouadah recalled the "long-standing relationship" between Russia and Algeria. He praised the contribution of Russian professors and engineers in knowledge transfer and teaching at Algerian universities since independence, while also commending the efforts made through the large number of scholarships provided to Algerian students at Russian universities.
The Minister also pointed to prospects for strengthening cooperation between Russia and the Islamic world in technological development and innovation by exploring the launch of funding and support mechanisms specifically dedicated to startups in the Islamic world, the statement concluded.
