Energy: Adjal Discusses Ways to Strengthen Bilateral Cooperation with his Nigerien Counterpart

The Minister of Energy and Renewable Energies, Mr. Mourad Adjal, received today, Tuesday, the Minister of Energy of the Republic of Niger, Amadou Haoua, with whom he discussed ways to strengthen bilateral cooperation and expand partnership prospects between the two countries in the energy field.

During the meeting, Mr. Adjal reviewed the status of cooperation between the two countries, as well as the significant steps achieved within the framework of the power plant project currently being constructed by the Sonelgaz Group for the benefit of the Republic of Niger, in implementation of the directives of the President of the Republic aimed at supporting and improving the supply of electrical energy to this country.

The Minister pointed out that the energy sector is among the first to fulfill its commitments regarding this important project, which is being implemented "in record time," considering that this achievement constitutes an important strategic step in the path of bilateral cooperation between the two countries.

The Minister also touched upon a number of files that he described as priorities in the course of cooperation between the two sides, particularly regarding the rehabilitation of networks, and the restructuring and organization of the energy sector and energy system in the Republic of Niger, especially through the adoption of modern and advanced digital tools.

He also stressed the importance of working to develop and support human resources and Nigerien companies operating in the field of energy infrastructure construction, through specialized training programs at training schools affiliated with the Sonelgaz Group, covering various professions related to the energy sector.

For her part, Ms. Amadou expressed her deep satisfaction with the level of cooperation existing between the energy sectors of the two countries, praising the record time in which the power plant project in the capital, Niamey, was completed.

The Minister also reviewed a number of priority projects which, according to her, require the support of the Algerian side and benefiting from Algerian expertise for their implementation, praising the dynamism and professionalism that characterized the cooperation and exchanges with the Algerian energy sector, and confirming the Republic of Niger's keenness to strengthen this cooperation and expand its fields in the future.

The meeting, which took place at the headquarters of the Ministry of Energy and Renewable Energies in the presence of several senior officials from the ministry, comes within the framework of implementing the high directives of the President of the Republic, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, aimed at strengthening Algeria's African presence and supporting the path of development and integration across the African continent by promoting cooperation and partnership relations with African nations, according to the statement.

It also comes in the context of continuing consultations and coordination between the two sides, and following up on bilateral cooperation projects, particularly in the field of energy, following the meeting that brought the two ministers together in the Nigerien capital, Niamey.
