The Minister Delegate to the Minister of National Defence, Chief of Staff of the People's National Army, General Saïd Chanegriha, oversaw on Thursday, at the 5th Firing and Maneuvers Range in Amdoukal, the execution of a live-fire tactical exercise named "Al-Ahd 2026", according to a statement from the Ministry of National Defence.
The same source explained that on the third and final day of his field visit to the 5th Military Region, General Chanegriha oversaw, at the 5th Firing and Maneuvers Range in Amdoukal, the execution of the live-fire tactical exercise named "Al-Ahd 2026." The exercise was carried out by units of the 7th Armored Brigade, supported by units from the Air Force, Air Defence, Border Guards, and logistical support units.
On Wednesday, General of the Army Chanegriha followed a presentation delivered by the exercise director, Commander of the 7th Armored Brigade, which included the general concept and execution phases of the exercise. This falls within the framework of implementing the force preparation program for the year 2025-2026, as noted in the statement.
At the 5th Firing and Maneuvers Range, accompanied by the Commander of the 5th Military Region, "General of the Army Chanegriha closely followed the progression of the exercise, which was executed under conditions close to reality, in accordance with the established plan and in line with the drawn objectives, consisting primarily of refining the skills of commanders and staffs in the area of preparing and organizing combat actions, and ensuring coordination among the various forces."
These objectives also include "providing field commanders with experience in unit control by enhancing cohesion, coordination, and cooperation between units and sub-units, and enabling crews to master weapon systems, as well as testing operational readiness and the capacity of the logistical support chain to ensure the continuity of combat actions and assigned missions under various conditions," the same source added, noting that this exercise also featured "the execution of an airborne landing operation by special forces units, characterized by precision and speed."
The statement noted that the execution of this exercise "clearly confirmed the capability of the participating units in planning, preparing, and successfully executing assigned missions. This constitutes another success and a reflection of the crews' sound mastery of various modern weapons and high-tech equipment."
At the conclusion of the exercise, General Chanegriha met with the commanders and personnel of the participating units, where he "congratulated them on the great efforts they made throughout the combat preparation year, and during the preparation and execution of the exercise. He praised the capabilities of the participating units in mastering the objectives of this exercise, as well as the clear seriousness that characterized the various stages of its execution on the ground. These are positive and encouraging indicators that reflect the level of readiness attained by the brigade in particular, and the units of the 5th Military Region in general."
In conclusion, General Chanegriha inspected the participating units, which returned his salute, according to the statement from the Ministry of National Defence.
