The Ministry of Vocational Training and Education launched the "Sanaa" program this summer, an initiative designed to introduce young people to technical trades through free, practical training. Speaking this Tuesday on the program "L'invité du jour" (Guest of the Day) on Channel 3 of Algerian Radio, Ibtissem Abdellaoui, in charge of studies and synthesis at the Ministry, outlined the main features of this scheme, which targets young people aged 15 to 27 across the entire national territory.

According to Ms. Abdellaoui, this operation falls within the framework of the directives of the sector's Minister, Nacima Arhab. "It is a directive from the Minister to take advantage of the summer season to launch this type of activity for young people. Also, following the Oran Olympiads, we noticed that these activities hugely attract young people, especially the 15 to 27 age group. We therefore wanted to offer them 100% technical and practical activities during the summer," she explained.

Registrations have already opened on Sanaa's dedicated digital platform and will continue until June 4. The training itself will take place from July 15 to 30 in vocational training establishments. Six specialties have been selected based on the expectations of young people and the needs of the labor market. "We filtered these training courses according to the interest expressed by young people. They involve building electricity, plumbing, welding, refrigeration and air conditioning, and painting," the official specified.

"Everyone Is Eligible for These Training Courses"

The program is accessible to all young people in the targeted age group, whether they are in school, university students, unemployed, or on vacation. "There is no specific requirement. Everyone is eligible. Not just students, but also unemployed youth or those who wish to use this period to acquire new skills," stated Ms. Abdellaoui.

The choice to target 15-to-27-year-olds is based on studies conducted by the Ministry following several events dedicated to trades. "We found that there is a real interest in technical specialties among young people. Even if artificial intelligence attracts a lot of attention today, these trades will remain essential. On the contrary, we want to strengthen this technical expertise, which is now sought after all over the world," she asserted.

The Program Is Exclusively Practical in Nature

The originality of the program lies in its exclusively practical nature. "There will be no theory. We are taking an entirely manual and technical approach. The objective is to allow participants to concretely discover the actions of the trade," the Ministry representative emphasized.

The training courses will be delivered in vocational training centers equipped with the necessary workshops and equipment. Supervision will be provided not only by teachers in the sector but also by experienced professionals. "These are coaches who are already in the field. They perfectly master these trades and will be able to guide young people toward the concrete application of the acquired skills," she explained.

At the end of the course, participants will receive a certificate. "Even if it is symbolic, it will certify that the person has received practical training in one of our centers," Ms. Abdellaoui specified.

A Particular Interest From Young Women in These Training Courses

Asked about the interest of young women in these training courses, she rejected the idea that these trades are exclusively male. "Every year, we record enrollments of young women in several technical specialties. One should not think that women only gravitate towards sewing. We have requests in plumbing, painting, and other practical trades," she stated.

All Wilayas Involved in This Initiative

Finally, the official assured that all wilayas are included in this initiative. The distribution of sessions and the mobilization of logistical resources will be defined after the close of registrations. "We will mobilize all necessary resources to ensure the success of this new vision and allow young people to benefit from these training courses everywhere across the country," she concluded.
