The Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Gas) of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Mr. Ekperikpe Ekpo, highlighted on Wednesday in Algiers the vital importance of the Trans-Saharan Gas Pipeline (TSGP) project and its economic impact on the entire African continent.

Following an audience with the President of the Republic, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, Mr. Ekpo stated that he assured the President that Nigeria "will do everything in its power" to see this significant project come to fruition.

He added that the President of the Republic expressed "great interest" in completing this "vital" project, which holds "significant importance for Algeria, Niger, and Nigeria in terms of industrialization and job creation, in addition to its broader African dimension."

The Nigerian Minister of State noted that work on this project began many years ago, emphasizing that it "means a great deal to the three countries." The success of this project, he added, will have a "huge impact" on the whole of Africa, and he reaffirmed full commitment to its realization.

Regarding the 5th Ministerial Meeting of the Steering Committee for the Trans-Saharan Gas Pipeline project, the Minister of State confirmed that he came to participate accompanied by a high-level delegation from the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC). He stated that this presence is a "confirmation and commitment that this project will see the light of day," noting that the meeting will address technical and commercial aspects to ensure the project's launch.
