The Minister of Petroleum of the Republic of Niger, Mr. Hamadou Tini, praised on Wednesday in Algiers the "unprecedented and strategic" level of relations between his country and Algeria, expressing the gratitude of the Nigerien people following the inauguration of the power plant project gifted by the People's Democratic Republic of Algeria to the Republic of Niger.
In a press statement following an audience with the President of the Republic, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, Mr. Tini stated that the meeting was an opportunity to express the gratitude of the Nigerien people and convey the thanks of his government and the Head of State, General Abdourahamane Tchiani, regarding the power plant inaugurated that morning by the Prime Ministers of both countries.
He also expressed the gratitude of the people of Niger regarding the implementation of the various agreements concluded between the two nations, particularly those signed during the meeting of the Great Joint Commission in Niamey last March.
In this context, he emphasized that cooperation between Algeria and Niger is making "tangible progress" across the entire hydrocarbons value chain, noting the importance of the agreements signed on Tuesday between the Nigerien company Sonidep and three subsidiaries of the Sonatrach Group.
These three agreements complement existing projects, such as the "Kafra" oil project, which the Minister announced will "enter its operational phase starting next July."
Regarding the Trans-Saharan Gas Pipeline (TSGP) project, Mr. Tini conveyed a message from the President of the Republic of Niger affirming "Niger's full commitment to its realization as a structural and vital project, not only for the three countries involved but for all of Africa." He also expressed his thanks for the technical support provided by Algeria to bring the project to fruition.
