The 5th Ministerial Meeting of the Steering Committee for the Trans-Saharan Gas Pipeline (TSGP) project concluded on Wednesday evening with the adoption and approval of the final report of the updated feasibility study. The project aims to transport natural gas from Nigeria to Algeria via Niger, for export to Europe and other international markets.

Held at the Abdellatif Rahal International Conference Center (CIC), the meeting was attended by the Minister of State, Minister of Hydrocarbons, Mr. Mohamed Arkab; Nigeria’s Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Gas), Mr. Ekperikpe Ekpo; and Niger’s Minister of Petroleum, Mr. Hamadou Tini. Also present were the CEO of Sonatrach, Mr. Noureddine Daoudi, and officials from the national companies NNPC (Nigeria) and Sonidep (Niger), alongside technical teams and experts from the three nations.

The meeting was dedicated to reviewing the results of the updated feasibility study conducted by the international consultancy firm Penspen. Participants discussed various aspects of the project and evaluated the progress of the roadmap established during previous meetings.

At the conclusion of the session, the three countries agreed to adopt the final feasibility report as the primary technical and economic reference for transitioning to the next stages of implementation. They also agreed to begin practical procedures for the project's realization, finalize necessary arrangements, and maintain close coordination between the three national companies tasked with the project's follow-up.

In a joint statement following the meeting, Mr. Arkab announced the official launch of construction works for the Algerian section of the Trans-Saharan Gas Pipeline, which represents a pivotal component of this strategic continental project.
