The Secretary of State to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, in charge of the National Community Abroad, Mr. Sofiane Chaib, held an expanded meeting with members of the national community residing in the United Kingdom (Royaume-Uni). This meeting concluded his working visit to the country and followed an inspection of the Consulate General of Algeria in Londres, according to a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The ministry's statement noted: "As part of his working visit to the United Kingdom and following an inspection visit to the headquarters of the Consulate General of Algeria in Londres, the Secretary of State to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, in charge of the National Community Abroad, Mr. Sofiane Chaib, held an expanded meeting with members of the national community residing in the United Kingdom, in the presence of the Ambassador of Algeria and the Consul General."
At the beginning of his address, Mr. Chaib emphasized that this meeting "falls within the framework of the high priority given by the country's supreme authorities to the national community abroad and their commitment to establishing direct and permanent communication with them, listening to their concerns and aspirations, and enhancing their contribution to various national development processes."
The Secretary of State reviewed various initiatives and measures initiated by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for citizens residing abroad, particularly in the areas of modernizing the consular facility, digitalizing its services, simplifying administrative procedures, and strengthening communication mechanisms. He also highlighted programs aimed at consolidating the ties between the community and their motherland, and preserving national identity among the younger generations.
In this context, Mr. Chaib announced, as indicated in the statement, the launch of the Coordination of Algerian Schools in the United Kingdom. This qualitative initiative serves as a unifying framework aimed at coordinating efforts in teaching the Arabic language and strengthening national and cultural references among the children of the community, thereby deepening their connection to their homeland and its civilizational foundations.
The statement further explained that the meeting provided a platform for open and constructive dialogue, during which the Secretary of State listened to the concerns, suggestions, and inquiries of the community members. He reaffirmed the State's commitment to continuing the improvement of conditions for its citizens abroad and enhancing their participation in national life.
Finally, Mr. Chaib highlighted the importance the Algerian State places on strengthening the representation of the national community in institutional building and expanding their space for contribution to public life, calling on community members to continue their positive engagement in national affairs as a reflection of their attachment to their motherland.
