An Interactive Meeting with Members of the Algerian Academic Community in the United Kingdom on Scientific Research in Algeria and Prospects for its Development

The Embassy of Algeria in London organized a meeting bringing together the Rector of Djamaâ El-Djazaïr (Great Mosque of Algiers), Sheikh Mohamed El-Mamoun El-Kassimi El-Hassani, and the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Kamel Baddari, with a number of research professors, lecturers, and Algerian students residing in the United Kingdom, at the conclusion of the activities held at the Oxford Centre for Islamic Studies.

The meeting provided an open platform for dialogue and the exchange of views regarding the reality of scientific research in Algeria and prospects for its development. It also addressed ways to enhance the contributions of national talents residing abroad to support the higher education and innovation ecosystem, in addition to discussing the challenges of university entrepreneurship and its role in linking the university to its economic and social environment, as well as anticipating the future of the Algerian university in light of rapid scientific and technological transformations.

The session witnessed a rich discussion and wide interaction between the attendees and the officials, where a number of concerns and proposals were raised related to training, scientific research, international academic cooperation, and ways to benefit the Algerian university and the entrepreneurial world with innovative ideas from the national community residing abroad.

The Rector of Djamaâ El-Djazaïr also received a number of questions regarding training at the "Dar El-Quran" National Higher School of Islamic Sciences, and provided clarifications on the institution's scientific and pedagogical vision, as well as the prospects of its training and research programs. He emphasized Djamaâ El-Djazaïr’s keenness to develop high-quality training pathways that combine scientific authenticity with the requirements of contemporary academic research.

The meeting was characterized by a positive atmosphere that reflected the great attention paid by the Algerian state to national scientific talents abroad, and highlighted the importance of continuing consultation and coordination with members of the academic community so as to serve the development of the Algerian university and enhance its presence in the international scientific arena.
