Algeria is participating in the 2026 Mexico City Global Cultural Village (Aldea Global 2026), held from June 10 to 21 as part of the cultural program running alongside the FIFA World Cup, according to a statement from the Ministry of Culture and Arts on Thursday.

This participation aligns with "the realization of the State's strategic vision aimed at strengthening Algeria's international cultural presence and promoting its modern image—one rooted in its history and civilization, proud of its national identity, and open to the values of dialogue and cultural exchange between peoples," the same source specified.

An exhibition space has been reserved for the Algerian pavilion, featuring "an integrated program highlighting Algeria's civilizational, cultural, and tourism assets." The objective is to strengthen the country's international cultural influence, establish its position as a promising cultural and tourist destination, and showcase elements of tangible and intangible cultural heritage either listed or proposed for UNESCO listing. It also aims to introduce historical heritage and national symbols that helped forge Algeria's glory and shape its collective memory.

The pavilion includes an exhibition dedicated to Algerian handicrafts, showcasing examples of zellige, traditional jewelry, and fine arts, as well as a photographic exhibition tracing elements of Algerian cultural heritage and emblematic national figures, led by Emir Abdelkader.

Furthermore, the pavilion offers a selection of national works with cultural, historical, and artistic themes, alongside an exhibition dedicated to the geographical and cultural diversity of Algerian traditional clothing—such as the caftan, karakou, blousa, and Chaoui melhafa—accompanied by explanations of their historical, social, and aesthetic dimensions.

Visitors will also have the opportunity to discover Algeria's tourist, cultural, and natural riches through high-quality audiovisual media. A dedicated area for tasting traditional dishes will reflect the wealth of the national culinary heritage and its various civilizational influences. Additionally, the public can attend artistic performances illustrating the richness and diversity of Algerian musical heritage.

This high-quality participation "confirms Algeria's commitment, under the wise leadership of President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, to strengthening its cultural presence in international forums and consolidating its place as a country with centuries-old civilizational depth and cultural heritage, actively contributing to intercultural dialogue and the bringing together of peoples," the statement concluded.
