The Algerian Minister of Foreign Affairs Takes Part in Amman in the Proceedings of the Resumed 165th Ordinary Session of the Arab League Council at the Ministerial Level

The Minister of State, Minister of Foreign Affairs, National Community Abroad, and African Affairs, Mr. Ahmed Attaf, participated on Monday in Amman (Jordan) in the proceedings of the resumed 165th ordinary session of the Arab League Council at the ministerial level, a ministry statement indicated.

This meeting was held "upon the instructions of Arab state leaders to allow Arab Foreign Ministers to elect Mr. Nabil Fahmy to the position of Secretary-General of the Arab League, succeeding Mr. Ahmed Aboul Gheit, whose term at the helm of the League's General Secretariat has concluded," the same source specified.

On this occasion, "Mr. Ahmed Attaf praised the commendable efforts made by Mr. Ahmed Aboul Gheit in the service of joint Arab action during a period marked by numerous challenges and crises, expressing his deep gratitude for his contribution to strengthening joint Arab action," the statement added.

The Minister of State also "extended his congratulations to Mr. Nabil Fahmy on his election as Secretary-General of the Arab League, wishing him full success in fulfilling the missions and responsibilities entrusted to him, in serving the aspirations of Arab states and peoples, and in strengthening the role of the Arab League," the statement concluded.
