The United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) has warned that at least 100,000 children in Lebanon face the risk of not returning to school for the upcoming academic year unless urgent action is taken to repair educational facilities damaged by Zionist aggression.
In a statement, the organization explained that a national assessment conducted by the Lebanese Ministry of Education and Higher Education, with the support of UNICEF, revealed that 340 schools and educational institutions have been affected. This includes 17 schools completely destroyed in the governorates of Nabatiyé, Sud, Bekaa, Baalbek-Hermel, Beyrouth, and Mont- Lebanon. The report highlighted that many of these sites require extensive rehabilitation or total reconstruction.
UNICEF emphasized that the continued disruption of education threatens the future of children and increases the risks of school dropout and child labor. The organization called for immediate investments to rehabilitate schools and ensure that students can return to learning in a safe environment at the start of the new academic year.
