The Confederation of African Football (CAF) announced on Saturday the opening of the bidding process for the hosting of the 2028, 2032, and 2036 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) editions, inviting its 54 member associations to express their interest.
In a statement published on its website, the African football governing body indicated that it had developed the awarding framework for these three editions in collaboration with the consulting firm PwC, as well as with independent technical, financial, and legal experts.
According to CAF, these specifications aim to guarantee a "transparent, credible, and ethical" selection process that complies with international best practices.
AFCON is presented by the African body as the continent's premier sporting competition, attracting over 3.2 billion television viewers and generating some 6 billion views on digital platforms worldwide.
The next edition, dubbed the PAMOJA 2027 Africa Cup of Nations, will take place from June 19 to July 17, 2027, in Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda.
CAF also specified that it now plans to organize a major senior men's national team competition every year, with the exception of FIFA World Cup years.
The body added that further announcements regarding its international competitions will be communicated at a later date.
