The Minister of Health, Mohamed Seddik Ait Messaoudene, presided on Monday in Algiers over the opening of the African Regional Workshop on Health Technology Assessment (HTA) Program Development, organized by the Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (Africa CDC).

In his address on this occasion, Mr. Ait Messaoudene explained that "the health challenges facing our continent require greater coordination, solidarity, and unity of efforts," as well as "investing in knowledge, innovation, and evidence-based decision-making to build stronger and more resilient health systems that meet our citizens' needs."

In this regard, he pointed out that this workshop represents "an opportunity to strengthen the exchange of expertise and knowledge with African nations in the field of public health, support national and regional capacity building, and develop specialized skills in health technology assessment."

In this context, he recalled the directives of the President of the Republic, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, who "is keen to strengthen and support initiatives that bolster African health systems, qualify the continent to face health challenges, and establish African cooperation in public health."

For his part, the Director General of the Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention, Jean Kaseya, praised the policies of the Algerian state that enabled it to "achieve health security," noting that Algeria is "one of the few countries that has successfully developed and established a pharmaceutical industry that meets the needs of its population."

In this regard, the official stressed the importance of "benefiting from the Algerian experience to develop the health systems of African nations, and focusing more on training health professionals who understand the continent's reality and the demands of its population."

The workshop was attended by the Minister of Labor, Employment, and Social Security, Abdelhak Saihi, and the Minister of Pharmaceutical Industry, Nacim Kouidri.
