Algeria will increase the volumes of natural gas directed to the German market starting January 1, 2027.
This comes under the contract concluded between the Sonatrach Group and the German company VNG, last Thursday in Berlin.
The natural gas supply contract was signed within the framework of the official visit paid by the President of the Republic, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, to Germany.
This contract allows for the strengthening of commercial relations between Sonatrach and VNG.
The contract provides for a partnership between Sonatrach and VNG in the "Algeria-Europe Hydrogen Alliance" project and the "SoutH2 Corridor" project.
According to a statement issued by the Sonatrach Group yesterday, Sunday, the two projects aim to produce hydrogen in Algeria and export it to Europe.
The Algerian and German sides are linked by a memorandum of understanding to explore cooperation opportunities in areas of common interest.
This specifically concerns green hydrogen and the reduction of methane gas emissions.
This contract comes to embody the strength of cooperation relations between Sonatrach and VNG, reflecting the level of excellence in Algerian-German relations.
