The Minister of Pharmaceutical Industry, Ouacim Kouidri, received on Tuesday the Congolese Minister of Cooperation and Promotion of Public-Private Partnership, Denis Christel Sassou Nguesso, to discuss partnership opportunities in the sector, the ministry said in a statement.
The meeting, which took place at the ministry's headquarters, provided an opportunity to review "the state of the pharmaceutical industry in Algeria and the qualitative progress made in recent years in this field, particularly in terms of the local production of essential medicines, as well as the establishment of a rigorous control system meeting the highest international standards, which has contributed to strengthening the quality of Algerian pharmaceutical products and boosted their competitiveness," the same source added.
On this occasion, the Congolese minister expressed his country's desire to benefit from the "pioneering" Algerian experience in the pharmaceutical industry, particularly regarding the development of production capacities, technology transfer, and skills training.
For his part, Mr. Kouidri affirmed Algeria's readiness to meet the demands of the Congolese medicine market through local products, the training of Congolese workers, and by exploring ways to develop joint industrial projects in the future.
At the end of the meeting, the two parties agreed to work together to elevate cooperation relations to the level of a strategic partnership, notably by strengthening exchanges between economic operators from both countries and encouraging investment, with the ultimate goal of contributing to the reinforcement of drug security in Africa, the statement concluded.
