The proceedings of the scientific symposium continue today, Tuesday, in Algiers on its second and final day, focusing on "The Western Sahara Cause: Historical Roots, Current Status, and Prospects Amidst International Transformations," with the participation of a number of Algerian and Sahrawi professors and researchers.
The second day's schedule includes a third scientific session titled "Social and Economic Dimensions and Strategic Territorial Domains," and a fourth session on "Narratives, Media Mobilization, Influencing Diplomacy, and Frameworks for Activating Joint Support," as well as an intervention by the Sahrawi Ambassador to Algeria, Khatri Addouh, on the prospects for future settlement and solutions. The symposium will conclude with the presentation of general recommendations.
During the opening of the proceedings on Monday, the Sahrawi Ambassador to Algeria commended Algeria's stance, noting that it "always strives to keep the Sahrawi people's cause alive in memory and present in conscience," which reflects its commitment to standing by just causes.
He explained that this position "stems from the spirit and principles of the great November Liberation Revolution" and embodies the "doctrine of liberation and freedom that the brotherly Algerian people believed in, sacrificed for, and remained steadfastly attached to."
He added that this meeting represents a "reaffirmation and renewal of the strong stance of Algeria under the leadership of the President of the Republic, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune," considering the symposium an "enriching addition to the examination, research, and illumination of the Sahrawi people's struggle, their liberation path, and their just cause spanning more than seventy years."
For her part, the representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Director General for Strategic Monitoring, Foresight, and Crisis Management, Mrs. Nassima Baghli, stated that Algeria's stance regarding the Western Sahara issue "has always been consistent and clear" as a decolonization issue. She emphasized that its resolution "must inevitably pass through enabling the Sahrawi people to exercise their right to self-determination in accordance with relevant United Nations charters."
