The Civil Protection services announced today, Tuesday, that all fires on the national level have been extinguished, totaling 1,968 fires since last July 8, coinciding with the start of the heatwave.

According to the statement, "Since the early hours of this morning, and after continuous, uninterrupted field efforts, all fires that broke out since July 08, 2026, have been extinguished, reaching a total of 1,968 fires—including 667 forest, scrub, and brush fires, as well as 1,301 fires involving agricultural crops, fruit trees, and palm trees, which coincided with the heatwave experienced across several wilayas of the country."

Despite gaining full control over these fires, the statement added that "Civil Protection units and the forest fire fighting mechanism—including operational units, mobile columns, regional support detachments for forest firefighting, along with aerial assets and various sectors and bodies—remain on constant alert and ready for immediate intervention to extinguish any fire that may re-ignite, in order to protect lives, property, and forest resources."

In this context, the General Directorate of Civil Protection extended its sincere thanks to everyone who contributed to extinguishing these fires, including bodies, institutions, and all citizens who demonstrated a wave of solidarity alongside state institutions and entities, as well as the various media outlets that accompanied and covered the events from the outset.
