Algeria and six other countries from the "OPEC+" group decided today, Sunday, to increase their total production by 188,000 barrels per day (bpd) starting next September, while emphasizing the need for vigilance and continuous monitoring of global oil market developments.
This decision was made during a ministerial meeting held via videoconference, bringing together the seven OPEC+ member countries (Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries and its non-member allies) that had implemented voluntary adjustments to their crude oil production: Algeria, Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Kazakhstan, Kuwait, the Sultanate of Oman, and Russia.
During the meeting, in which Minister of State, Minister of Hydrocarbons, Mr. Mohamed Arkab participated, "the seven countries decided to implement an upward adjustment to their collective production by 188,000 barrels per day starting in September 2026. This is part of the gradual phase-out of the voluntary production cuts that were adopted beginning in April 2023," according to a statement from the Ministry of Hydrocarbons.
