The National Union of Agronomists (UNA) announced Sunday in a statement the organization of a national colloquium on mountain agriculture and rural economy, to be held from September 1 to 3 in Skikda Wilaya.
Organized under the theme "Toward a National Vision for the Development of Mountainous Areas and the Promotion of Rural Economy in Algeria," this meeting will see the participation of representatives from various sectors, national bodies and companies, professional organizations, scientific research centers, and universities, as well as experts, professionals, and investors.
According to the same source, the event aims to "develop an integrated national vision for the development of mountain agriculture and the rural economy, based on the valorization of natural resources and local products, forest protection, fire prevention, and the encouragement of investment, innovation, and renewable energies." It also focuses on strengthening the role of scientific research and modern technologies, as well as establishing effective partnerships among different stakeholders to achieve sustainable development and bolster food security.
The colloquium, which will feature a scientific and practical program including lectures, workshops, and an exhibition showcasing startups, artisans, and producers, will be marked by the launch of field caravans for counseling and awareness-raising on preserving forest heritage and fire prevention. The program also includes reforestation campaigns and solidarity initiatives for fire victims in remote areas, thereby reinforcing sustainable development efforts and national integration.
