The Minister of Culture and Arts, Malika Bendouda, received the Ambassador of the Czech Republic to Algeria, Jan Czerny, on Tuesday at the ministry's headquarters. The meeting focused on exploring ways to strengthen cultural cooperation and artistic exchanges between the two countries, according to a ministry statement.
The statement highlighted that the meeting "reflects the depth of friendly relations between the two countries and their shared commitment to enhancing cultural cooperation and artistic exchanges between Algeria and the Czech Republic."
During the discussions, both sides reviewed multiple areas of potential partnership, including enhancing cooperation in the restoration of archaeological sites through the exchange of expertise and experience, as well as exploring opportunities for joint programs and projects aimed at preserving and promoting cultural heritage.
The parties also discussed ways to broaden participation in cultural festivals and other events held in both countries by encouraging exchanges between artistic troupes and cultural delegations.
Additionally, the meeting addressed prospects for cooperation in film training, particularly with the National Higher Institute of Cinema in Koléa. This would involve developing joint training programs, hosting Czech experts, and opening academic and technical exchange opportunities to serve the film industry.
Praising the positive bilateral relations, Minister Bendouda welcomed the selection of the Czech Republic as the guest of honor for the 2026 edition of the Algiers International Symphonic Music Festival.
"This will be an opportunity to discover Czech musical creativity and to consolidate artistic cooperation," she stated.
At the end of the meeting, both sides emphasized their commitment to continuing efforts to promote cultural cooperation and open new partnership opportunities that reflect the depth of ties between Algeria and the Czech Republic.
