Jonathan Fowler, Communications Director for the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA), warned of the dangers of new restrictions imposed by Israeli occupation forces on the registration of international organizations operating in Gaza.

In a press statement yesterday, Sunday, Mr. Fowler stated that the Gaza Strip currently needs an expansion of humanitarian aid, not the imposition of additional restrictions.

He noted that the situation in Gaza remains catastrophic despite the ceasefire agreement, with continued fatalities, a shortage of aid, and worsening suffering.

He mentioned that humanitarian conditions are deteriorating in the Strip, especially as residents face winter storms and the spread of respiratory diseases due to the cold. He affirmed that children are the most affected in the Strip, and Gaza is witnessing the highest rates of limb loss among children worldwide.

He pointed out that UNRWA has continued to provide educational and psychological support since October 2023, but this support does not address the long-term damage.

He added that what Gaza urgently needs now is an increase in humanitarian aid, as was expected at the start of the ceasefire.
