The tenth edition of the Numidia Plastic Art Exhibition opened yesterday, Monday, in Khenchela, featuring the participation of 42 visual artists from several wilayas across the country, as well as from Tunisia and Libya.
The Director of Youth and Sports (DJS), Yazid Zouaoui, presided over the opening of this edition at the Houha-Belaïd Youth Center in Khenchela as part of the celebrations for the Amazigh New Year 2976. The event highlights art reflecting the colors of the homeland through 70 artworks, in addition to 200 other paintings and 16 sculptures that make up the artistic collection of the local association "Lamassate" for plastic arts, the organizer of the exhibition.
In his speech on the occasion, Mr. Zouaoui affirmed that holding this event in conjunction with the Amazigh New Year celebration aims to "strengthen the Amazigh artistic heritage and foster exchanges between visual artists."
The exhibition, which will run until January 14, includes paintings by 35 artists representing 15 wilayas, along with works by seven other artists from Tunisia and Libya who share the common theme of Amazigh cultural heritage, Fouad Belaa, president of the Lamassate association, told APS.
According to the same source, this edition will feature introductory workshops for amateur artists on drawing traditional costumes (El Malhfa, Caftan, and Gandoura), led by Algerian artists, as well as a drawing and coloring competition for children.
Artist Ali Yamani from the wilaya of Tissemsilt, who is exhibiting two paintings of traditional costumes, expressed his joy at participating in this edition, calling it an opportunity for exchange between artists coming from several wilayas of the country.
