The House of Culture of the wilaya of Bejaia will host the "Ciné-parcours Bejaia" cultural event from January 15 to 17, the cultural institution announced on Wednesday.

The new edition of Ciné-parcours Bejaia will be themed "Memory and Transmission" and will pay tribute to director Chérif Aggoune, a pioneer of Amazigh cinema who passed away in 2019, officials from the House of Culture indicated. A rich program has been planned for the event, which will begin with the inauguration of the House of Culture's cinema workshop, to be named after Chérif Aggoune.

The program for the first day features a screening of Taggara Lejnun (The End of the Djinns), a short film directed by Chérif Aggoune in 1990, followed by speeches and testimonials honoring the late director. A forum for student film clubs, titled "Thinking, Sharing, and Bringing Cinema to Life at the University," is scheduled for Friday morning at the House of Culture, attended by the student organizers of these clubs.

The second day will also be marked by the screening of short films, including La nuit d'Abed (Abed's Night) by Anis Djaad, Le drapeau (The Flag) by Ahmed Aggoune, Boualem a tout entendu (Boualem Heard Everything) by Aziz Boukerouni and Khaled Bounab, and Je te promets (I Promise You) by Mohamed Yargui. A lecture on Chérif Aggoune, presented by Latifa Lafer, an expert in the sociology of cinema, is also on the event's agenda.

A second lecture on "The Short Film in Algeria: Creation, Programming, and Cultural Policies," led by Fayçal Sahbi, an instructor at the Higher Institute of Cinema, is scheduled for the final day of the event, which will conclude with a screening of the documentary Le citoyen Pierre Chaulet (Citizen Pierre Chaulet).
