Aquaculture: Saudi and Chinese Operators Interested in Investment in Algeria

The Director General of Fisheries and Aquaculture, Miloud Tria, received a delegation of Saudi and Chinese investors interested in developing structuring projects in the field of marine aquaculture in Algeria, the Directorate indicated in a statement yesterday, Monday.

Falling within the framework of supporting and encouraging investment in the fishing and aquaculture sector, this meeting took place in the presence of executives from the Directorate General of Fisheries and Aquaculture, as well as representatives of the Algerian Economic Renewal Council (CREA), the same source specifies.

On this occasion, a comprehensive presentation was given on the state and development prospects of fishing and aquaculture activity in Algeria, highlighting the considerable potential the sector holds across its various branches.

The main incentive measures decided by the State to support investment in this field were also discussed, while shedding light on opportunities offered in marine and freshwater aquaculture. The presentation also covered the advantages granted for certain species with high economic value, such as gilthead sea bream, sea bass, and red tilapia.

Furthermore, the presentation addressed medium- and long-term aquaculture development prospects, while emphasizing the importance of developing hatchery operations and studying the feasibility of projects in the shrimp farming segment.

The meeting also provided an opportunity to discuss the possibility of establishing factories to manufacture fishing equipment, which would contribute to strengthening industrial integration and supporting the production chain.

For their part, the investors showed keen interest in the available investment opportunities as well as the incentives granted. They expressed their willingness to realize investment projects in Algeria, given the sector's promising capabilities and the favorable business climate established by the State, the statement concludes.
