The President of the Republic of Algeria, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, granted an official reception this Monday afternoon to the President of the Republic of Angola, Mr. João Lourenço, at the headquarters of the Presidency of the Republic.
The President of the National Agency for the Valorization of Hydrocarbon Resources (ALNAFT), Samir Bakhti, confirmed that data regarding the international bidding round "Algeria Bid Round 2026" for hydrocarbon exploration across seven new areas will be available starting June 1, 2026.
During an international meeting organized by the agency in partnership with the European Association of Geoscientists and Engineers (EAGE), focused on the strategic challenges of offshore exploration and maximizing hydrocarbon recovery, Mr. Bakhti explained that "this important stage will allow energy sector players and partners to access the technical and geoscientific data available within this process."
The official added that the aim of this endeavor is to provide a deeper understanding of the potential within Algeria's mining sector and to support the evaluation of available investment opportunities in this field. He noted that the goal of the 2026 international bidding round, launched last April, is to "open a new chapter of partnerships, investments, and technological development with the international energy industry."
Mr. Bakhti also emphasized that "this initiative reflects our determination to provide a transparent, competitive, and attractive climate based on sustainable partnerships of mutual benefit." He stressed that Algeria is fully committed to the new global dynamics of the energy sector, which is undergoing a radical transformation driven by the integration of advanced new technologies, artificial intelligence, and digital solutions, and their impact on exploration operations.
As a reminder, the areas proposed within the framework of the 2026 international bidding round consist of: El Berma 2 (Ouargla), Mzaid North (Ouargla), Illizi Central 1, East Bourj Omar Driss 1 (Illizi), Hadjira 3 (Touggourt), Touggourt South, and El Benoud East (El Bayadh).
