The Egyptian men's handball team overcame their Nigerian counterpart with a score of 48-22 (half-time 15-05), in the second and final round of the main stage of the 27th edition of the 2026 African Nations Championship, within Group I, played today, Tuesday, in Kigali.
Earlier today, the Algerian team defeated Angola with a score of 27-22 (first half 14-10), thereby securing a ticket to the semi-finals of the competition. They will face, next Thursday, the first-place holder of Group II—either Cape Verde or Tunisia—who are set to meet this Tuesday evening (18:00). With this result, Algeria has also secured its spot in the World Championship finals scheduled to take place in Germany next January.
The qualification of the Algerian squad came after securing second place thanks to goal difference against Nigeria and Angola.
The top two teams from each group qualify for the semi-finals scheduled for Thursday, January 29, with the classification match (for third place) and the final taking place next Saturday, January 31.
