Algeria Attends Opening of 9th Nigeria International Energy Conference and Exhibition

Representing the Minister of State, Minister of Hydrocarbons and Mines, Mohamed Arkab, the Secretary General of the Ministry of Hydrocarbons and Mines, Miloud Medjelled, participated on Tuesday in the opening ceremony of the 9th edition of the Nigeria International Energy Conference and Exhibition (NIES 2026), held in Abuja, according to a ministry statement.

The ceremony was held in the presence of the Vice President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and the President of the Republic of Gambia, along with several other high-ranking officials and ministers.

Also attending the opening were the Ministers of Petroleum and Gas from Nigeria and Côte d'Ivoire, as well as the President and Secretary General of the African Petroleum Producers' Organization (APPO).

Following the ceremony, the Algerian Secretary General of APPO, Farid Ghezali, participated in a panel focused on the development of Africa's energy sector and strengthening cooperation among member countries.

On the sidelines of the event, Miloud Medjelled held a bilateral meeting with Côte d'Ivoire's Minister of Energy. They discussed ways to strengthen bilateral cooperation in the oil and gas sectors, through the exchange of expertise and the exploration of new opportunities for partnership and joint investment.

Algeria's participation in this event is part of its efforts to strengthen its presence in African and international energy forums, and to promote regional cooperation, with the aim of contributing to the sustainable development of the African continent.
