Chinese President Xi Jinping sent a congratulatory message on Saturday to the African Union (AU) on the occasion of its 39th Summit in Addis-Abéba, announcing zero-tariff treatment for all African countries with which his country maintains diplomatic relations, reported the new china agency.
Emphasizing that China is firmly committed to maintaining world peace, advancing common development, and promoting the construction of a community with a shared future for humanity, Xi Jinping affirmed that his country intends to consolidate its cooperation with African nations.
In this regard, he assured that "effective May 1, 2026, China would fully apply zero-tariff treatment to all African countries with which it maintains diplomatic relations."
In parallel, "China will continue to advance the negotiation and signing of framework agreements on economic partnership for shared development, and further expand access for African exports to China by improving the 'green channel,' among other measures," he added.
Since the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Africa 70 years ago, both sides have always advanced side by side. The Chinese President affirmed that "China is ready to work with Africa to perpetuate their historic friendship, deepen their mutually beneficial cooperation, strengthen their mutual understanding and affection, and write together a new chapter of an all-weather China-Africa community with a shared future for the new era."
