Conclusion of the 39th AU Summit in Addis Ababa

The proceedings of the 39th Ordinary Session of the Assembly of Heads of State and Government of the African Union (AU) concluded on Sunday afternoon in the Ethiopian capital, Addis Ababa, with the participation of Prime Minister Mr. Sifi Ghrieb, representing the President of the Republic, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune.

During the second and final day of this summit, organized under the theme "Ensuring Sustainable Availability of Water and Safe Sanitation Systems to Achieve the Goals of Agenda 2063," several reports were presented. These included the annual report of the Chairperson of the AU Commission, Mahmoud Ali Youssouf, as well as reports relating to Agenda 2063, the Comprehensive Africa Agriculture Development Programme (CAADP), the African Union theme for the year 2025, and major continental initiatives led by the African Development Bank.

Furthermore, the AU summit adopted the Algiers Declaration on Colonial Crimes in Africa, which designates November 30 as the "African Day of Tribute to African Martyrs and Victims of the Transatlantic Slave Trade, Colonization, and Apartheid," expressing its appreciation to the President of the Republic, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, for this initiative.

During this summit, held at a pivotal stage in the continent's history, Algeria reaffirmed its commitment to peaceful conflict resolution, its support for African approaches to African problems, and its active contribution to efforts promoting peace and stability, as well as strengthening conflict prevention and resolution mechanisms.

Algeria's participation falls within the framework of its commitment, under the leadership of the President of the Republic, to support joint African action and strengthen the dynamics of integration and solidarity among the continent's States, in service of its peoples' aspirations for sustainable development, security, and stability.
