Algerian badminton players distinguished themselves once again by clinching two new gold medals in men's doubles and mixed doubles this Sunday afternoon at the African Championships taking place in Gaborone (Botswana).
Unstoppable throughout the competition, the Algerians confirmed their dominance in the men's doubles and mixed doubles events.
Indeed, Koceila Maameri and his partner Sabri Medal claimed their 8th title, an unprecedented feat on the continental level. It was a historic triumph secured in style, after defeating Zambians Chongo Mulenga and Kalombo Mulenga in a one-sided final, wrapped up in two sets (21-16, 21-19).
In mixed doubles, Koceila Maameri and his sister Tenina also demonstrated remarkable consistency by clinching their 6th African title. This new victory was won hands down against the South African pair composed of Caden Kakora and Amy Ackerman (21-11, 21-9).
These two fine accolades add to the crowning of the men's national team, champion for the fifth consecutive time, as well as the bronze medals won by Yasmine Chebbah (women's singles) and by the duo Mazri Linda-Yasmine Chebbah in women's doubles.
