The organizers of the 2026 Sports Press Futsal Tournament announced on Monday that the fifth edition of the event will kick off this Friday evening at the "Coupole" of the Mohamed Boudiaf Olympic Complex in Algiers. The announcement was made during the official draw ceremony held at the 5 July Stadium conference hall.
The draw took place in the presence of Minister of Communication Zoheir Bouamama, the Director of Corporate Affairs at Ooredoo—the tournament's main partner—as well as representatives from participating media outlets and various sponsors.
The opening match is scheduled for 9:30 PM and will feature Team Al-Chaab facing off against Ennahar Online in Group A action.
Twenty-four teams representing various national media outlets have registered for this year's edition, which is organized by the National Organization of Algerian Sports Journalists (ONJSA).
The teams have been divided into six groups of four. Following a round-robin group stage, the top two teams from each group, along with the four best third-placed teams, will advance to the Round of 16.
Now considered a tradition, the national sports press tournament will take place entirely at the Coupole of the Olympic Complex, running throughout the holy month of Ramadan.
The group draw for the 2026 Futsal Tournament is as follows:
- Group 1: Al-Chaab, Al-Ayam Djazairia, CIP, Ennahar Online.
- Group 2: Echourouk News, CNDPI, TV3, Al-Djazair Al-Djadida.
- Group 3: Al-Hayet TV, National Radio 1, Al-Djazair Moubacher, Algérie Presse-Photo (APP).
- Group 4: AL24 (1), Koora News, Watania TV, Al-Biled TV.
- Group 5: Canal Algérie, Inter-News, Dzair Tube, Al-Ikhbariya.
- Group 6: Ennahar TV, AL24 (2), National Radio (2), TV 8.
