Algerian Kaylia Nemour qualified this Thursday for the uneven bars final at the first stage of the Artistic Gymnastics World Cup (Apparatus), currently taking place in Cottbus, Germany.
The Olympic champion finished the qualifiers in first place with a score of 15.200 points, surpassing Russian Milana Kaimova (14.033 points) and Italian Giulia Perotti (13.900 points).
This competition marks the first international appearance for champion Kaylia Nemour during the 2026 season, opening a new year under the banner of ambition and challenges at the highest level. The prestigious Cottbus stage brings together the elite of global artistic gymnastics, where the Algerian defends the national colors in the uneven bars and balance beam disciplines.
This event also sees the participation of Algerian Lahna Salem in the floor exercise, vault, and uneven bars exercises.
The participation of the two athletes in Cottbus is considered an important station within the preparations for the international events of the 2026 season, with the aim of confirming the development of Algerian artistic gymnastics on the global stage.
The World Cup competition includes six stages, taking place from Germany to Egypt via Qatar, providing a platform for young talents and stars to confirm their level against the world's best athletes.
After the Cottbus stage (February 19-22), the competition will continue in Baku (Azerbaijan), Antalya (Turkey), Cairo (Egypt), and Osijek (Croatia), before concluding in the Qatari capital, Doha, from April 14 to 18.
