The Algerian women's national football team secured another victory against their Egyptian counterparts (3-2) in a friendly preparation match held Monday evening at the Egyptian National Teams Training Center.
Mélinne D'Oria opened the scoring for Algeria in the 33rd minute, but the Egyptian response was swift. The hosts equalized just four minutes later in the 37th minute, and both teams headed into the locker rooms at halftime with the score tied 1-1.
After the break, Egypt took the lead in the 49th minute. However, the Algerian players showed great character, with Ines Boutaleb leveling the score in the 61st minute before Ines Khiri sealed the victory by scoring the decisive goal in the 74th minute.
As a reminder, Algeria had already claimed a 3-0 victory in the first friendly match played last Saturday. These matches are part of the Algerian squad's preparation program ahead of the 2026 Women's Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) finals.
National coach Farid Benstiti called up 28 players for this camp, the vast majority of whom are professionals playing abroad, notably in France, Switzerland, England, Turkey, and Saudi Arabia.
This will be the Algerian team's seventh appearance in the WAFCON finals and their second consecutive participation following the 2024 edition. In that tournament, under coach Benstiti, the team achieved a historic performance by reaching the quarterfinals before eventually falling to Ghana (0-0, 2-4 on penalties).
