Algerian swimmer Moncef Ben Bara delivered an outstanding performance at the French Summer Swimming Meet held in Canet-en-Roussillon, clinching first place in the 200-meter backstroke with a time of 2:01.82. This remarkable achievement earned him the "B" qualifying standard for the 2027 World Aquatics Championships, the Algerian Swimming Federation announced.
With this victory, Ben Bara continues to showcase his significant progress on the international stage, cementing his reputation as one of Algeria's most promising talents in backstroke events.
For its part, the Algerian Swimming Federation extended its warmest congratulations to the athlete, wishing him "further success and brilliance in upcoming international challenges."
The Hungarian capital, Budapest, is scheduled to host the 2027 World Aquatics Championships from June 26 to July 18, with the pool swimming events taking place between July 10 and 18. The prestigious tournament will feature over 2,500 athletes representing more than 200 countries and will serve as a crucial qualifying milestone for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games.
