The Algerian Under-23 National Team began its preparatory training camp yesterday, Monday, at the National Technical Centre in Sidi Moussa (Algiers), in anticipation of two friendly matches against the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
According to the Algerian Football Federation (FAF) via its official website, the two encounters are scheduled for March 27 and 30 at the 5-Juillet Olympic Stadium.
During the first training session, physical trainer Farès Belkhir put the players through physical drills before the squad participated in various technical workshops under the supervision of national coach Rafik Saïfi and his assistant Azzedine Rahim. The session concluded with a practice match on a reduced pitch.
Meanwhile, the goalkeepers followed a specific program under the guidance of their coach, Mohamed Réda Acimi.
The session saw the participation of 21 players, while Maedine Makhloufi and Mohamed Hemdaoui were content with specific indoor work. The squad was completed in the evening with the arrival of Daryll Benlahlou and Mohamed Bechikh.
These two matches will provide an ideal opportunity for the national technical staff to assess the level of the 25 summoned players, give a chance to new elements, and foster collective cohesion.
The technical staff also aims to utilize this double confrontation to fine-tune their choices and build a strong, competitive squad in preparation for the qualifiers for the U23 Africa Cup of Nations.
