Construction work on the Annaba Port-Bouchegouf section—part of the Eastern Mining Line project connecting Annaba to Bled El Hadba (wilaya of Tebessa) over a distance of 422 km—has made notable progress, according to a press release issued on Saturday by the Ministry of Public Works and Basic Infrastructure.

This 54-kilometer section has reached "advanced stages" of completion, the statement specified. It highlighted its imminent delivery and entry into service, noting that work is continuing at an accelerated pace, "day and night."

Recalling that the Eastern Mining Line is a structural project aimed at strengthening transport infrastructure and supporting mining activity in the country, the ministry indicated that national construction companies are currently focusing their efforts on completing the main operations of the project's final phase. This notably includes laying the railway tracks across various parts of the section and carrying out final outfitting works at the passenger stations.

Ongoing works also include the completion of major engineering structures, particularly the remaining overpasses and crossing infrastructure with the local road network, according to the same source. The press release added that the project is being personally monitored by the Minister of Public Works and Basic Infrastructure, Abdelkader Djellaoui.
