In execution of the high instructions of the President of the Republic, the Prime Minister chaired today, Thursday, a meeting via videoconference with the walis, in the presence of the Minister of Interior, Local Authorities, and Transport, and the Minister of Internal Trade and National Market Regulation, dedicated to evaluating the progress of the current harvesting and threshing campaign, which faced logistical and organizational challenges resulting from the large areas to be harvested and production levels unprecedented in decades.
In this regard, proactive measures were taken for the optimal utilization of agricultural equipment and its operation at maximum capacity across the national territory, while strengthening the national fleet—which includes nearly 10,000 harvesters in service—and supporting it through the creation of agricultural mechanization cooperatives, which have begun acquiring new modern-spec harvesters.
The field monitoring with the walis, alongside the spirit of solidarity between wilayas and farmers, demonstrated that the efforts made—primarily consisting of mobilizing national harvesting capabilities as well as putting new additional storage capacities into service—led to achieving good results in terms of reducing the timeline of the harvest and threshing campaign.
The Prime Minister issued instructions to the walis to personally ensure the completion of the operation in accordance with the deadlines set by the President of the Republic, which must not exceed August 10, 2026.
