The Algerian men’s national wheelchair basketball team secured a precious victory against its Senegalese counterpart with a score of 44-40 (halftime 24-20) this Monday evening in Luanda, Angola. The game was part of the fourth matchday of Group A in the African Championship, which serves as a qualifier for the 2026 World Cup.

Billel Ayache and his teammates faced significant difficulties in overcoming the Senegalese squad, which is participating in the African Championship for the first time. This tight competition was reflected in the scores of the four quarters: 12-06, 12-14, 10-08, and 10-12.

Thanks to this fourth consecutive win, the Algerian team finished the first round at the top of Group A undefeated, successfully securing their spot in the quarter-finals. They will face the fourth and last-placed team from Group B, Liberia, who lost all of their matches. Meanwhile, Senegal will meet the third-placed team from Group B, which will be determined later tonight.

This victory has once again highlighted the strong cohesion of the Algerian squad, confirming their determination to shine on the continental stage and book their ticket to the 2026 World Championship, scheduled to take place in Ottawa, Canada.
