Algeria stands out as a key player in regional and international energy security, thanks to the consistency of its supplies and its commitment to structuring Pan-African projects, highlighted Farid Ghezali, Secretary General of the African Petroleum Producers' Organization (APPO), yesterday, Monday, in Oran.

In a press statement on the sidelines of the 8th symposium of the Algerian Gas Industry Association (AIG), Mr. Ghezali noted Algeria's commitment to African energy integration through the promotion of continental-scale projects.

In this regard, he cited the Trans-Saharan Gas Pipeline (TSGP) project linking Nigeria to Europe via Niger and Algeria, which he described as "realistic and operational." "Teams are already hard at work in Niger to make this strategic infrastructure a reality," he indicated.

Discussing the prospects of this project, the APPO Secretary General expressed his hope to see the gas pipeline come into service by 2029. He emphasized that its completion will help demonstrate Africa's ability to establish itself as a reliable energy supplier on the international stage.

Regarding the role of gas in the global energy market, he stated that it serves as the "best bridge" between fossil fuels and the energy transition.

"Without gas, this transition will not be possible," he pointed out, recalling that this resource "has largely proven its worth," both historically and in short- and medium-term energy outlooks.

In this context, Mr. Ghezali highlighted Algeria's important role within the organization, particularly praising its dependability as a credible supplier.

"Whatever the geopolitical conditions, Algeria has never interrupted its gas deliveries," he affirmed, describing this consistency as an "invaluable asset" that goes beyond the simple notion of price to embody the concept of service.
