Minister of Industry Yahia Béchir discussed on Tuesday in Algiers with the Serbian Minister for International Economic Cooperation and Vice-Chairman of the Algeria-Serbia Joint Committee, Mr. Nenad Popović, horizons for strengthening industrial partnership in several priority sectors, according to a ministry statement.

The meeting, held in the presence of senior officials from both sides, is part of the ongoing efforts to bolster economic and industrial relations between Algeria and Serbia. It coincides with the official visit to Algeria by a high-level Serbian delegation led by the Serbian Prime Minister, Mr. Goran Macic.

On this occasion, both parties praised the "strength of the historic ties of friendship" uniting the two countries, emphasizing a "shared will to establish a renewed economic partnership based on industrial integration and mutual benefits," reflecting the distinguished level of bilateral relations.

The discussions centered on ways to enhance cooperation in several industrial branches, particularly building materials, through the valorization of cement and clinker production capacities and the development of marble processing. The talks also covered the iron and steel industry.

Furthermore, the two ministers explored partnership opportunities in agricultural equipment and food industries, as well as the development of production chains in textiles and leather.

In the same context, both sides addressed prospects for cooperation in technological and digital industries, specifically in software development, digitization, and Artificial Intelligence (AI), with a focus on the transfer of expertise and modern techniques to strengthen the capabilities of Algerian enterprises.

For his part, the Serbian minister expressed interest in developing practical partnerships in several areas, including mechanical industries, agricultural equipment, manufacturing industries, and technology transfer, in addition to digitization, AI, building materials, and textiles.

The Serbian side also showed particular interest in benefiting from Algerian potential in raw materials and semi-industrial products, notably leather and its derivatives and building materials, given the demand for these sectors in the Serbian market.

At the conclusion of the meeting, both parties emphasized the importance of translating these cooperation opportunities into concrete projects. They also agreed to organize joint business meetings in the near future to support bilateral cooperation and elevate it to the level of the longstanding relations between Algeria and Serbia.
