Oil prices tumbled below the $100 mark as global benchmarks recorded significant double-digit percentage drops.
Brent crude futures fell by $14.84, or 13.6 percent, to settle at $94.43 per barrel.
Similarly, U.S. West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude futures dropped by $16.13, or 14.3 percent, reaching $96.82 per barrel.
