The Secretary of State to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, in charge of the National Community Abroad, Mr. Sofiane Chaib, received on Monday at the ministry's headquarters the African Union (AU) Commissioner for Political Affairs, Peace, and Security, Mr. Bankole Adeoye, a ministry statement indicated.
This meeting, held in the presence of the Ministry's Secretary General, Mr. Lounès Magramane, provided an opportunity to discuss "developments in the political and security situation on the continent" and to review aspects of "the close cooperation between Algeria and the AU Commission," within the framework of strengthening African action mechanisms in the field of peace and security, the same source specified.
"Emphasis was placed on Algeria's pivotal role at both the regional and continental levels in strengthening joint African action, with a view to addressing security challenges and promoting African solutions to African problems," the statement added.
