Participants in the Algeria-Chad Business Forum, held Tuesday in Algiers, highlighted the mutual determination of both countries to elevate their economic relations to the level of a strategic partnership by capitalizing on investment opportunities across various sectors.

The forum was co-chaired by the Minister of Foreign Trade and Export Promotion, Kamel Rezig, and the Chadian Minister of Trade and Industry, Mathieu Guibolo Fanga. The event saw the attendance of the Director General of the Algerian Investment Promotion Agency (AAPI), Omar Rekkache, the President of the Algerian Economic Renewal Council (CREA), Kamel Moula, the Director General of the Chadian National Agency for Investment and Exports (ANIE), Sobdibé Sobkika Liliane, as well as economic operators from both nations.

In his address, Mr. Rezig noted that trade exchanges must match the strong ties between Algeria and Tchad, emphasizing that the Chadian market is a promising African destination capable of absorbing Algeria’s growing non-hydrocarbon exports.

In this context, the Minister identified key sectors to boost trade, including fertilizers and chemical products (where Algeria's exports reached $1.5 billion in 2025), building materials, ceramics, and glass ($560 million exported last year), in addition to the agri-food industry, pharmaceuticals, and renewable energy. Mr. Rezig stressed the need to overcome logistics challenges and increase coordination for participation in economic fairs and exhibitions in both countries.

For his part, Mr. Guibolo Fanga emphasized the necessity of establishing a "strategic partnership" that aligns with the ambitions of both nations, transcending bilateral cooperation to build an integrated regional vision. This includes developing economic corridors linking North Africa to Central and West Africa to attract significant investment. He praised Algeria's "strong economy" as a model, detailing the "Chad Connection 2030" national development plan, which aims to mobilize over $30 billion across projects in agriculture, livestock, mining, hydrocarbons, energy, and infrastructure.

Furthermore, Mr. Rekkache highlighted the competitive incentives Algeria offers to investors, reaffirming AAPI's readiness to support Chadian investors and facilitate their access to the Algerian market.

Mr. Kamel Moula added that the forum serves as an opportunity to draft the foundations of a partnership based on integration rather than traditional trade, with the ambition of building an Algerian-Chadian economic hub that positions itself effectively on the African economic map.

Sobdibé Sobkika Liliane reviewed Chad's efforts to diversify investments into high-yield sectors like mining and manufacturing, while the manager of the Chadian Chamber of Commerce, Abderrahmane Gademi, noted that Chadian operators who visited Algerian enterprises on Monday expressed a strong desire to form partnerships beyond traditional trade.

The forum concluded with B2B meetings between Algerian and Chadian companies active in hydrocarbons, mining, electricity, agriculture, and telecommunications.
