The Ministry of Environment and Quality of Life launched a new national digital platform on Saturday in Algiers, titled "The Environmental Investor." The platform is designed to support young project holders and facilitate the implementation of their initiatives in the environmental field, particularly those related to the circular economy and waste recovery.
The launch took place in the presence of the Minister of Environment and Quality of Life, Kaouter Krikou; the Minister of Knowledge Economy, Startups, and Micro-enterprises, Noureddine Ouadah; and the Minister of Youth, in charge of the High Council of Youth, Mustapha Hidaoui. The event was held on the sidelines of an information day themed "Youth and Environmental Investment."
The platform aims to provide young people with access to various support and financing mechanisms for environmental projects. Through this digital space, users can submit dossiers, track their applications, and access orientation, technical support, and training services. It also simplifies the process of obtaining licenses for the collection and transport of recyclable waste.
According to explanations provided during the event, this initiative is part of the broader effort to digitize administrative services and bring them closer to project holders by simplifying procedures and enhancing transparency in the review of applications.
In her address, Ms. Krikou affirmed that the platform will help regulate access to environmental activities and guide young people in realizing their projects. This, in turn, contributes to achieving Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and supporting the national economy by promoting investment in green and innovative activities.
Emphasizing the importance of inter-sectoral coordination to encourage environmental investment, Mr. Ouadah noted that waste recovery is an economic resource capable of creating wealth and jobs while reducing the national import bill.
For his part, Mr. Hidaoui stated that the platform will provide youth with a clearer vision of available opportunities in the environmental sector. He noted that it strengthens their entrepreneurial capabilities by connecting them to support mechanisms, fostering a culture of initiative and investment rather than relying solely on the state for job creation.
In this context, he announced the organization of a summer camp dedicated to young people interested in green entrepreneurship, with nearly 250 participants expected to take part in training and expertise exchanges.
Organized through the cooperation of several ministries, the information day featured presentations on the legal framework governing the circular economy—specifically the provisions of Law No. 25-02—as well as the support and financing mechanisms available to project holders.
The role of the National Microcredit Management Agency (ANGEM) and the National Self-Entrepreneur Agency (ANAE) was also highlighted regarding their support for youth, particularly in recycling and integration into the formal economy.
the event concluded with the signing of several partnership and cooperation agreements between various agencies and institutions to strengthen the support system for green entrepreneurship in Algeria.
