The Algerian junior national athletics team (Men and Women) has been in Tunis since Friday evening to participate in the 21st edition of the Arab Junior Athletics Championships, scheduled from April 26 to 30 in the Tunisian capital.
Alongside Algeria and the host country Tunisia, 13 other Arab nations have confirmed their participation: Saudi Arabia, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Oman, Kuwait, Sudan, Egypt, Lebanon, Palestine, Morocco, Libya, and Yemen.
Algeria has entered a total of 28 athletes in this regional competition: 19 males and 9 females.
Male Delegation:
The national colors will be represented by: Younes Ayachi (High Jump), Mohamed El Amine Belli (Decathlon), Yasser Bouhadjela (4x400m), Ismail Bouziza (400m), Mourad Brakni (High Jump), Yassine Chaabane (400m Hurdles), Yassine Ferrache (5000m), Aïssa Fodil (3000m Steeplechase), Zehr Eddine Gasmi (110m Hurdles), Walid Fares Ghattas (Decathlon), Zakaria Ghezali (Triple Jump), Imad Eddine Hamida (400m), Issam Louadj (Pole Vault), Yahya Mehdi (Triple Jump), Younes Mouas (5000m Race Walk), Zakaria Touahria (3000m Steeplechase), Amine Yahiaoui (Hammer Throw), Oussama Zara (Discus Throw), and Ayoub Zebida (400m Hurdles).
Female Delegation:
The female team includes: Nesrine Abed (1500m), Karima Achiche (3000m), Sara Lina Aïssiou (Pole Vault), Marwa Belala (Discus Throw), Hasna Benouadah (800m), Yasmine Bouallaka (800m), Soundous Ghamane Berkahem (5000m), Fatma Zohra Guessoum (5000m Race Walk), and Aya Zenkhri (5000m Race Walk).
The President of the Arab Athletics Federation, Ali Ibrahim Al-Sheikhi, stated that this event represents an important opportunity to promote the values of fair competition and strengthen cooperation among Arab athletes. He praised the level of organization and professionalism demonstrated by the Tunisian Athletics Federation.
He emphasized that sports go beyond the pursuit of medals, describing it as a humanitarian message that promotes peace and communication between peoples. He added that this competition serves as a platform for discovering talent and developing capabilities.
On the sidelines of the championships, a training course for coaches will be organized in cooperation with the Tunisian National Anti-Doping Agency, along with a workshop for referees under the supervision of an international expert, as part of efforts to develop skills and enhance the integrity of competitions.
