Parliamentary Cooperation Between Algeria and Azerbaijan Focus of Meeting at Council of the Nation Headquarters

The Vice-President of the Council of the Nation, in charge of Foreign Affairs, Rabah Baghali, received this Sunday in Algiers the Chairman of the Azerbaijan-Algeria Parliamentary Friendship Group and Chairman of the Youth Committee of the National Assembly of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Shahin Ismayilov, and his accompanying delegation, according to a statement from the Council.

The same source explained that "on behalf of the President of the Council of the Nation, Mr. Azouz Nasri, Mr. Baghali received Mr. Ismayilov at the Council's headquarters." The meeting provided "an opportunity to evaluate the trajectory of Algerian-Azerbaijani relations and explore prospects for their development, given the political harmony and mutual understanding on issues of common interest."

During the meeting, according to the statement, emphasis was placed on "translating the shared will of the two countries to elevate bilateral cooperation to broader and more dynamic levels, serving the interests of both peoples and strengthening the partnership between the two nations." In this context, Mr. Baghali praised the "strength of the bonds between Algeria and Azerbaijan, which are witnessing significant development," highlighting the "importance of this visit in providing constant and diligent momentum to the diplomatic mechanisms between the two countries."

He also stressed the importance of "supporting this path with effective parliamentary cooperation based on intensifying consultation and coordination mechanisms between the two legislative institutions through the exchange of visits, expertise, and experience in the legislative field, and activating parliamentary diplomacy tools, led by friendship groups." For his part, Mr. Ismayilov expressed his "happiness" in visiting Algeria, praising its "status on regional and international levels and affirming his country's keenness to consolidate ties of friendship and cooperation with Algeria, reflecting the depth of the bonds between the Algerian and Azerbaijani peoples and embodying the shared will to elevate them to wider horizons."

He also expressed his desire to meet with "a large number of figures to conduct consultations and propose several partnerships that serve both countries."

In conclusion, both sides reaffirmed their determination to continue joint work to raise Algerian-Azerbaijani relations to higher levels, reflecting the spirit of friendship and mutual trust between the two countries, the statement added.
